BREAKING: Coronavirus Outbreak Forces Football Chiefs To Postpone Copa Del Rey Final, Earlier Scheduled For April 18

Copa del Rey final, which was set to be played on April 18, has been postponed, due to the coronavirus outbreak, just 24-hours after Spanish Football Chiefs were criticised for moving League games behind closed-doors.

The Copa del Rey final between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao, was finally postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, after long and tough deliberations.

The Spanish domestic cup final, which was set to be contested by two of the most high-profile Basque teams, was due to take place on April 18, at Estadio de la Cartuja, in Seville.

Nonetheless, a Spokesman for the Royal Spanish Football Federation, RFEF, declared that the match will not take place on the original day, with no rearranged fixture date revealed as of yet. The move comes just 24-hours after the next two rounds of La Liga games were moved behind closed-doors, resulting in Spanish Football Chiefs being lambasted in Wednesday morning’s newspapers.

In an attempt to contain the virus, no Spanish supporters will be allowed to attend any top-flight matches, until the first weekend of April, at the very earliest.
