Ekiti State has been plunged into anxiety, after Governor Kayode Fayemi confirmed that he has taken the coronavirus test, after meeting with two confirmed cases in the country.
Fayemi made this known in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, on Wednesday morning, March, 25.
The Governor’s revelation came in barely 24-hours after President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, tested positive to the deadly infection.
The fear at Aso Rock was heightened, as three Aides who established contact with the Chief of Staff, also tested positive to the virus.
Fayemi revealed that he has gone on self-isolation, since Tuesday evening, March 24, after the confirmation that two of the people who he had a meeting, with tested positive.
The Governor, however, also urged colleagues and people who may have established contact with him, to do the Covid-19 test and go on self-isolation, to avoid further spread.
“I just took a Covid-19 test, having gone into self-isolation since yesterday evening”, Governor Fayemi stated.
“I am asymptomatic and feel well, but I was in meetings with two people who had since tested positive.
“I look forward to an all clear, and have encouraged all my colleagues to take the test”, the Governor further submitted.
