BREAKING: Governor Matawalle Remains The Executive Governor Of Zamfara State, As Supreme Court Dismisses APC’s Application

The Supreme Court, has on Thursday, dismissed an application for judicial review, filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Zamfara State, against Senator Kabiru Marafa and 179 others, over the 2019 Governorship election in the State.

The Apex Court, in a lead judgement delivered by Justice Inyang Okoro, held that the application is vexatious, frivolous, and a gross abuse of the court process. The court went on to award the cost of N2 million to be paid by the Applicant, to the 1st to 140th Respondents in the suit.

The court further held that it lacks jurisdiction to entertain an application seeking to review its own judgement, as the finality of the judgement of the Apex Court in the country is sealed, and cannot be reviewed under any guise.

It added that the judgement of the court favours the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its Governorship Candidate in the 2019 election, Bello Matawalle, who were not even parties to the suit, and ordered the setting aside of the earlier judgement of the court.
