BREAKING: Covid-19: Lagos State Government Announces The Tragic Death Of A 36 Years Old Coronavirus Patient, Today

The Lagos State Government, has announced that a 36-year old man has died of the coronavirus in the State.

The Lagos Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made the announcement via his Twitter handle, on Sunday.

He said that the patient died on Saturday, in a private facility.

Abayomi confirmed the death as the second coronavirus fatality recorded in Lagos State.
The Health Commissioner, who also confirmed that Lagos has recorded 6 new Covid-19 cases, added that another coronavirus patient had been evacuated from the State.

He tweeted: “We lost a Covid-19 patient, a 36-year-old Nigerian male, who died in a private facility, on the 4th of April, 2020. (The) total number of #Covid-19 patients who have died, are now 2.

“A case was evacuated, bringing total evacuated to 2.

“6 new cases of #Covid-19 confirmed, bringing total confirmed cases to 115. A #Covid-19 patient was discharged on the 4th of April, 2020. The number of #Covid-19 patients, who have fully recovered and discharged is now 24.”

Abayomi’s confirmation came a few hours after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Sunday, earlier announced that the country has recorded 1 more death and 2 discharges.

The NCDC had announced 10 fresh cases of Covid-19, in Lagos, Abuja, and Edo.

It said that of the 10 new cases, Lagos has 6, while Abuja and Edo have 2 cases each.

The new cases brings Nigeria’s confirmed Covid-19 cases to 224.

27 of the cases have recovered and been discharged, while 5 deaths have been recorded so far nationwide.

Currently, Lagos has 115 cases; Abuja – 45; Osun – 20; Oyo and Edo have 9 cases each; Bauch – 6; Akwa Ibom – 5; Ogun and Kaduna 4 cases each.

Others are Enugu and Ekiti – 2 cases each, while Rivers, Benue, and Ondo States, have 1 case, respectively.
