Nigerians Reject Federal Government’s N25 Billion Youth Fund, Demand The Reduction Of Federal Lawmakers’ Pay, And President Buhari’s Resignation

Nigerian youths have rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s Federal Government’s recently announced N25 billion youth fund, Page 36 learnt.

They argued that they need better governance, and not cheap handouts from the government.

They also asked that the funds be used to create good paying job opportunities for the youths, with some calling for a drastic reduction of the payment of Federal Lawmakers, and the resignation of all Political Office holders under the current administration.

Recall, that the President Muhammadu Buhari Federal Government had on Saturday, said that it has created a youth fund of N25 billion, as part of efforts to address the ongoing EndSARS protests and youth restiveness in the country.

The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this during a Stakeholders meeting with the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, in line with President Buhari’s directive to State Governors and Ministers, to dialogue with Stakeholders, with the view to finding solutions to the EndSARS protests.

While explaining that the youth fund will be increased to N75 billion within a period of three years, the Minister said that the aim is to support the youths to actualise their innovative and entrepreneurial ideas they have for them to grow their own businesses and be independent.
