One Of Abdulrasheed Maina’s Lawyers Applies To Withdraw From The Criminal Case With Immediate Effect, For Lack Of Payment Of His Legal Fees

Mr. Adeola Adedipe, one of the Counsels representing the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abulrasheed Maina, in his ongoing criminal trial for alleged money laundering, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC, has applied to quit the case, Page 36 learnt on Wednesday.

Adedipe, who is representing Maina’s company, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd, informed the court at the resumption of proceedings in the case, that he has filed a notice indicating his intention to withdraw from further representing his Client, who is the second Defendant in the case.

He disclosed that his brief had not been perfected, as he was yet to be paid by his Client, and apologised to the court for being absent from the proceedings during some of the recent adjournments.

The Trial Judge, Justice Okon Abang, who at the last sitting, held that by being absent in court, Adedipe has abandoned proceedings, stated that the notice the Lawyer claimed to have filed, was not in the court’s file.
