A former Federal Lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has on Wednesday, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is fast losing his popularity in the Northern region where he was once loved, due to the incessant insecurity issues rising daily under his watch, Page 36 learnt.
Senator Sani made this known on a PUNCH Online interview programme, “The Roundtable”.
His words: “Buhari is losing his popularity in the North, because of the insecurity. The Northerners are most fanatical about Buhari before now, but he is losing that, because of the insecurity in the region.”
This comes amid the recent abduction of School Students at a Secondary School, in Katsina State, the home of the President, and also after the earlier gruesome murder of Rice Farmers, in Borno State, for no just cause, and without any justice still meted to the perpetrators.
Recall, that the Leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, had in a recent recording, on Tuesday, said that the abduction of the Schoolboys was done by the terrorists group, in order to discourage people from obtaining western education in Nigeria.
However, reacting, Senator Sani said that it is logistically impossible for Boko Haram, which is based in the North-East part of the country, to kidnap that number of Students from the North-West.
He noted that there must have been a consortium between the bandits and the terrorists.
