Another Police Officer Killed Under New IGP Usman Alkali Baba’s Watch, As Unknown Gunmen Attempt To Burn Down Police Station In Anambra State

Emerging report indicates that unknown gunmen numbering about 15, have on Thursday, attacked Ojoto Police Station, in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, leaving one Inspector of Police dead during the attack.

A Police source disclosed that the Police Operatives on duty fought back and repelled the gunmen, thereby preventing them from setting the Station in fire.

The source said: “The hoodlums zoomed off when our men (Police) fought back and warded them off. They came in three Sienna vehicles.”

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, stated that he would not want to speak on the matter, until after visiting the Station.

He said: “I am planning to visit the area. I will not respond until after visiting the place.”

A senior Police Officer in the State who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident.

His words: “We lost one Inspector today again. The State Police Commissioner, Chris Owolabi, is preparing to visit the area.”
