Nigeria Finishes At 74th Position On The Medal Table With 2 Medals At The Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Under President Muhammadu Buhari’s Watch

Emerging report indicates that Nigeria has finished at 74th position on the medals table, with two medals, bronze and silver, at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

While Ese Brume won a bronze medal in long jump, Blessing Obodururu secured a silver medal in the women’s freestyle wrestling, Nigeria’s first one ever in the wrestling sport, since the country’s first appearance at the Olympics in 1952.

Meanwhile, the United States of America, USA, edged China at the top of the medals table.

The United States scored victories in volleyball, track cycling, and basketball, to top the medals tally with 39 golds, just 1 ahead of China.

33 sports were contested across 16 days, in largely empty stadiums, with fans barred over coronavirus risks, and athletes living in strict biosecure conditions.
