BREAKING: Federal Government Announces That President Muhammadu Buhari Has Finally Approved The Lifting Of The Suspension Of Twitter Operations In Nigeria, Effective From 12 Midnight, January 13, 2022

The President Muhammadu Buhari Federal Government, has on Wednesday, announced the lifting of the suspension on Twitter operations in the country, Page 36 learnt.

This was disclosed in a Press statement signed by the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency and Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement, Kashifu Abdullahi.

The statement reads in part: “The Federal Government of Nigeria directs me to inform the public that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operation in Nigeria, effective from 12am, tonight, January 13, 2022.

“The approval was given following a memo written to the President, by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Pantami.”

Nonetheless, there are speculations in some quarters that the Federal Government of President Muhammadu Buhari may likely suspend Twitter operations in the country again, during the 2023 general elections, to control the voices and opinions of the youths, who are the majority users of the social media platform, especially if their voices do not go in favour of the government and its Candidates in the elections.
