President Muhammadu Buhari’s Ruling APC Sets 2023 Presidency Trap For Nigerian Youths, Technically Dares The Youths To Pay N100 Million For The Party’s Presidential Nomination And Expression Of Interest Forms And Get Arrested By EFCC, ICPC, Or NDLEA; By Favour Amako

This is an opinion piece by Favour Amako.

It was as if I was hit by thousands of angry and hungry bees, when without the blinking of an eye, the Leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, announced a whopping N100 million, as the fee for the nomination and expression of interest forms for Aspirants interested in contesting for the 2023 Presidential Ticket of the ruling party.

The announcement came at a time when millions of Nigerians cannot afford to eat two square meals a day, amid a battered and shattered economy, swelling unemployment rate, rising inflation, and millions of Nigeria Students stuck at home due to the pronged Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, strike.

The most surprising issue was that the staggering amount of money was announced under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari, who had in 2015, raised an alarm that the N25.5 million fixed by the then APC, as an opposition party, for the purchase of the Presidential forms, was exorbitant. I remember vividly, Buhari saying that he could not afford to pay for the nomination forms, but had to rely on friends and Associates.

However, 7 years down the line, the same Buhari, but now as President, is supervising the sale of the APC Presidential election forms for N100 million, and Governorship, N50 million.

For me, the APC has fleeced the country so much that their Presidential forms hit the rooftop. The APC on Wednesday, simply concretised the foundation of corruption in Nigeria, at its National Executive Council, NEC, Meeting. It is like the party is intensifying the rage to legalise election rigging, and with this, the 2023 general elections is now a do or die affair.

The APC Presidential ticket is N100 million, in the same country where the Police and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will harass the youths who have just N1 million in their Bank accounts.

If you dare pay N100 million as a youth (even though there is a 40 percent discount for youths) to contest for the 2023 Presidency under the APC, be sure that the EFCC will come after you as a ‘Yahoo Yahoo Boy’. Be sure also, that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, will arrest and detain you for  peddling drugs allegedly or not. And for this reasons, I think this is a trap against the youths by the President Muhammadu Buhari Federal Government.

This country is not fair to the youths.

Comparing the APC nomination forms with that of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, I think that of the PDP is more rational and saintly.

Below are the comparisons:
APC State House of Assembly – N2 million, as against N600,000 for the PDP.
APC House of Reps. – N10 million, as against N2.5 million for the PDP.
APC Senate – N20 million, as against N3.5 million for the PDP.
APC Governor – N50 million, as against N21 million for the PDP.
APC President – N100 million, as against N40 million for the PDP.
