BREAKING: President Muhammadu Buhari’s Federal Government Orders All Vice Chancellors Of Public Universities To Open Their Schools And Resume Lectures Immediately, Even Without Meeting ASUU’s Demands And Paying Lecturers’ Salaries

The President Muhammadu Buhari Federal Government, has on Monday, through the National Universities Commission, NUC, ordered the Vice Chancellors of all Public Universities in the country, to re-open their Schools and allow the Students resume lectures, with immediate effect, after last week’s order by the National Industrial Court to the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to immediately call off its indefinite strike, Page 36 learnt.

This was made known in a letter signed by the Director, Finance and Accounts of the NUC, Sam Onazi, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Abubakar Rasheed.

The letter was addressed to all Vice Chancellors, Pro-Chancellors, and Chairmen of Governing Councils of Federal Universities.

It partly read: “Ensure that ASUU members immediately resume/commence lectures; Restore the daily activities and routines of the various University campuses.”

Recall, that the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, had last Wednesday, ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities to call off its ongoing nationwide strike.
